Playing The Lead
In improvised longform stories, we often find ourselves in the “Lead” role. Just like that, we are the “Star” of the story!
How can we do this, convincingly, bravely, honestly and with passion? How can we fill the roles that famous movie stars across the decades have played?
In this intensive, we’ll explore what playing the lead means to YOU, and discover ways that you can rise to this great challenge and opportunity!
Some of the things that we’ll work on:

how to “want” and “search”, not “know”

playing with confidence, vitality and bravery

finding our “sexy” selves

staying connected: to ourselves, the story, and our partners

being truly comfortable and relaxed onstage; believing that we’re worth watching

physicality – how to portray violence and intimacy in improvised stories

Finding Your Strong Neutral
Playing a strong, happy and healthy version of ourselves on stage is a powerful starting point for all improvisers.
In this class, we’ll learn to be brave, confident and friendly in our improv scenework, and we’ll do it in fun and surprisingly obvious ways.

Transitions
Transitions (sometimes called “edits” or “scene cuts”), both within and between scenes, are one of the truly magical aspects of improvisation.
In this class, we will look at the many ways that we can, as an ensemble, move from one part of scenes and stories into the next part, with the goal of making anything and everything possible.
As with all space object and “where” work, the key is to take your time with what you’re doing, and observe what your partners are doing. Taking your time makes things easier to read and also expands your options.
