Service Description

Cardume is a group of nine improvisers, both on and off stage. Finding flow, balance, and focus in such a large ensemble can be challenging—but it can also be magical! A bigger group opens the door to spectacular group scenes and strong support throughout an entire show. However, compelling stories and rich scenework often emerge from a smaller set of characters and relationships. So how do we strike the right balance? How do we keep a large cast engaged without overwhelming the scene? How can we listen and communicate effectively amidst so many ideas?  In this workshop, we’ll tackle these challenges head-on, exploring the delicate balance between leading and following, speaking and staying silent, stepping forward and making space for others. We’ll also dive into what makes a large group truly matter on stage - developing a group mind, mastering dynamic ensemble work, and learning how to create impactful moments together. Beyond the stage, we’ll discuss how to nurture strong, healthy relationships within the group, ensuring that we can improvise in a fun, productive, and supportive environment. By listening, bonding, and lifting each other up, the power of many can surpass the strength of a few - an idea that has always been at the heart of Cardume’s philosophy.
